ルルノイエの都市および人口の規模について

都市の人口を決定付けるのは食料と金です。都市では食料生産を郊外に委託している場合が多いので、輸送効率が食料生産量に匹敵する程影響力を持ちます。食料が稲ならボーナスポイント、港を持っていてもボーナスポイント、災害(戦災)リスクはマイナスポイントです。

江戸時代でも江戸なんて例外中の例外です。あれは黒潮と各種河川を利用した卓越した輸送技術によって成り立っていた奇跡的な産物。稲がわさわさ育ち河川流通によって成り立つ我が国の都市は比較的人口を増やしやすい条件であると言えます。

ハイランドは恐らく小麦粉文化圏です。マップを見る限り森が少ない＝降水量が少ない可能性がある。サジャの村にも畜産の気配を感じます。畜産が盛んな地域は稲をやるほどには降水量が足りない地域が多い。港も持たず人口のボーナスポイントが無いルルノイエが日本の都市より人口が少ないのは妥当。

ハルモニアを始めとした他国の都市と比較しないとあの世界でルルノイエが大きいのか小さいのかは測れませんが、25,000人という人口は都市としての体裁を保つには十分であること、デュナン近郊では大都市と言える規模である事は確かです。
私の主観としては大きい！と思います。

It is a difficult issue whether a population of L'Renouille, which is about 25,000, is large or small. What is the criteria? The following description is my own opinion.

The food and the money determine a population of the city. As the food, in most cities, food production depends on the suburbs so a transport efficiency matters.

Therefore if a major food in the city is the rice plants, it is a positive point. If the city has a port, it is also a positive one. On the other hand, a high disaster (war disaster) possibility is a negative point as the city and its population.

Today a rail network, which is a revolutionary system, is popular and the production efficiency of food has increased by breed improvement. Namely even a small area enables to support a lot of population and a large area is not necessary.

Nevertheless the Edo period is an old one, the population of Edo city is a lot but it is an exceptional instance. Kuroshio Current and the high transport technology with some rivers make it possible to increase population. Many cities in Japan have better conditions that is suitable for rice plants and flexible for transport by river.

From 1600 to 1700, without materials I assume some local castle towns have about from 20,000 to 40,000 population. I guess most of the castle towns are composed as the city.

Perhaps the main industry in Highland is flour because there are few forest around it and this fact shows few amount of rainfall.

Additionally the main industry in Sajah Village seems an animal industry. In the region whose main industry is an animal one, the amount of rainfall is not enough to grow rice.

So it is reasonable that a population of L'Renouille, which doesn't have a port and an advantage of population, is smaller than that of Japan.

By the way what about the cities around Dunan? Two River has the largest population in the City alliance, 17,000. The next one is Muse, 13,000. No city even with farming villages has over 25,000. The people in Dunan must be sure a population of L'Renouille is very large.

A comparison between Harmonia, other cities and L'Renouille is necessary to be clear that whether 25,000 is large or not. But I believe L'Renouille is a metropolis in Dunan area.

That is to say, L'Renouille is a big city.
